See how MTBF and MTTR along with their variations to calculate equipment availability

Transcript

Hello. I'm Jeff Shiver, Managing Principal with People and Processes. In a previous video we talked about mean time between failure and how that was a measure of reliability.

What I want to do now is introduce MTTR, or Mean Time To Repair, as a measure of maintainability, which is exactly how long does it take us to execute the repair and return it to Operations, as an example.

We use both of those to actually measure availability. Here's the calculation that follows. We have our measure of reliability, which is MTBF, which is divided by MTBF plus mean time to repair. That's actually how we measure availability. Hope you enjoyed the tip. Have a great day. I'm Jeff Shiver, People and Processes.
